Care Home Olympics Challenges

These activities have been developed by Zoe, our Co-ordinator for Hampshire, who also works as an activity assistant in a care home. All the activities have been tried and tested. Originally she created them for use in care homes across Hampshire, but we thought they were so brilliant that they should be shared more widely so that other care homes could get involved.

​There are 12 events that your team can take part in. They are all based (some quite loosely!)
on Olympic sports and have been devised specifically for care home residents - for example, the
100m sprint is completed using a pair of dice!

We have included a mixture of challenges, designed for a variety of ages and abilities. Many
can be done from a seated position, some require a table, some are a little more active and
we hope some can be enjoyed by residents in their rooms too. We have tried to keep the
equipment required to a minimum and use items readily available as far as possible.

You can take part in as many or as few of the challenges as you wish and invite friends, family and
​visitors to join in with you. The challenges need to be completed between 1st July and 11th August.

If you live in Hampshire and would like to get involved as individuals, families, community groups or as a school, preschool or children"s group complete a registration form by clicking on the relevant link below  and we can arrange for you to take part with your nearest participating care home.
