Embracing Age West Sussex began in July 2024. We are actively reaching out to local communities and churches to come alongside us to bring joy and companionship to more isolated care home residents across West Sussex. 

We're seeking volunteers to regularly visit older care home residents. Our trained befrienders make a huge difference to residents’ lives and wellbeing, and care home staff say these visits are particularly helping to bring joy, confidence and a sense of calm to the residents.
We also look forward to developing some of the other initiatives running under Embracing Age elsewhere to bring joy and connection to residents, including hand made cards, knitted gifts, Pictures of Joy, flower gifts and intergenerational links. If you share an interest in any of these activities, we would love to hear from you - please contact our Project Co-ordinator via the details below.

Meet our West Sussex Co-ordinator

Rebecca Savage

Rebecca is acting as interim West Sussex Co-ordinator while we recruit a new local co-ordinator. Rebecca has a wealth of experience having pioneered our Isle of Wight project and developed our work on the island for nearly six years.  She will be supporting our volunteers and partners across West Sussex during this interim recruitment period so do get in touch with her if you're interested in getting involved in our work here.
