Good Tidings of Great Joy:
An interactive Christmas Celebration for use in a care home.
This resource is useful for running an interactive Christmas service in a residential home, and includes a leaders booklet and a booklet to print off for residents, complete with Bible readings, prayers and carols.
The service gives opportunity to sing and speak your way through the Christmas Story, using a memory box filled with head dresses for Mary, Joseph, Angels, Shepherds, and Kings. Instruction on how to make the memory box and the head dresses are included as well as some suggestions on how to introduce them to the group. Advent Candles are used to light individual candles as a visual aid to help share the love of Jesus the Light of the World. Obviously check with the care home that they are happy for you to light a candle.
This particular resource, developed by Elizabeth Stacey, who was the Pastoral Co-ordinator for Mission to Seniors at WInchester Baptist Church, has been used successfully for a number of years in various homes and has helped to bring a sense of God's presence, love and blessing to seniors and staff alike through reminiscing, laughter, fun and fellowship.
